About Us

A Seed and a String started with Founder Elyse Oh and her very first student. Over the years, as her student population began to grow, she recruited her musician friends from school to foster similar mentorships and, overtime, put together a 3 part community: a private studio, camps and workshops, and local performances.

The private studio is the origin of A Seed and a String. In the studio, we focus on not only the technical and aspects of playing but also on growing our students’ love for music. We offer free lessons to those who do not have the resources for formal education.

One of our bigger-scale operations are our camps and workshops, which are now on a “pay what you can” scale, with all payments donated to local youth nonprofit organizations.

Finally, we like to offer free live music performances at various events in the community as a way to spread our love for music.
